Can you believe it's been 5 years?!?

On Sunday, June 27th WinH members got together for the first time in over a year to celebrate WinH's 5 year anniversary! We gathered at the beautiful Linwood Park in Ardmore to celebrate with snacks, lawn games, music, and a raffle. It was so nice to be in person with people again after a long, hard year.

We held a raffle to raise funds for future WinH programs and to cover overheard costs of running the organization, like website fees. Thanks to the generosity of businesses and people like Behmerwald Nursery, Mt. Airy Lavender, Abby Reczek Pottery, Illexotics, Fine Gardening Magazine, Scarlet Begonias Philly, PHS Meadowbrook Farm, Scott Arboretum (Thanks Sue!!), Chanticleer (Thanks Erin!!), Morris Arboretum, and Eva Monheim we were able to raise some much needed money to keep the organization going! Huge thank you to the folks who donated items for our raffle!

Over the last 5 years it's been incredible to watch Women in Horticulture grow into the small but mighty organization that it's become. We have to thank Cat Meholic and Rachel Burlington for seeing the need for this type of organization and for building the strong foundation for us to grow from. We want to thank each and every volunteer who has helped us along the way, from making flyers, writing blog posts, writing book reviews, to being a presenter at an event. We want to thank every organization that has generously allowed us to host events at their locations. We want to thank everyone who has attended an event and everyone who has donated supplies for events, snacks to fuel us while we learn, or money. We especially want to thank the women in horticulture who have paved the way for us to be here today.

Couldn't make the event but still want to help us celebrate? If you are able please consider making a donation to WinH, anything helps. You can donate through our PayPal here. Other ways to show your support are by signing up for our newsletter, sharing the word about upcoming events with friends and colleagues, volunteering to help host an event, write a blog post, or create an event. To find out more about volunteer opportunities contact us at womeninhort@gmail.com or read more on our website. Remember we are totally volunteer run and we need your help and feedback!
