Annual Summer Celebration of Women in Horticulture
An afternoon tea, coffee and snacks celebration at historic Andalusia House and Gardens. Andalusia is located on the Delaware River just north of Philadelphia. Andalusia is the ancestral home of the Biddle Family and surrounded by native woodlands and beautiful gardens. A major step in the evolution of the gardens was overseen by Letitia Glenn Biddle in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1904, Letitia Glenn Biddle hosted the very first meeting of the Garden Club of Philadelphia at Andalusia and later drafted the constitution that established the Garden Club of America at Andalusia. The gardens are newly reconceived by London-based plants-woman and landscape designer, Arabella Lennox-Boyd.
Women in Horticulture will be treated to garden tours, house tours, and an exhibit on Letitia Glenn Biddle. We will enjoy snacking and mingling on the porch as we celebrate historic and contemporary women in horticulture.
