Spend an evening with Women in Hort and the Grave Gardeners in the historic Woodlands Cemetery. The Grave Gardeners are volunteers that plant and tend to the cemetery’s cradle graves with Victorian-era plants. At this happy hour, we'll rollick in spring’s glory at the Woodlands, a 19th century rural cemetery on 54 acres in West Philadelphia. It was the former estate of plant collector William Hamilton, and is now a designated National Historic Landmark District. The Grave Gardeners will share their gardens with us while we tour the grounds and visit amazing specimen trees. Cold beverages and snacks provided. Event is open house style; feel free to drop in whenever suits your schedule, though we'll first meet at the Hamilton Mansion. The Woodlands is easily accessible by public transit via the 40th Street Trolley terminal, and plenty of parking is available on site.
